ISAIC - Industry Sandbox & AI Computing - is Western Canada's pioneer in AI compute power. It provides affordable, secure, and accessible cloud resources for SMEs to commercialize AI services, products, and innovative research. ISAIC offers virtual machines equipped with CPU, GPU, and storage options without lock-in, while ensuring full intellectual property retention for clients. This makes it an ideal sandbox for AI and machine learning projects, particularly suited for pilot programs, Proof-of-Concept (PoC) developments, and Minimum Viable Products (MVP) across various data applications. ISAIC serves companies of all sizes and industries, regardless of whether hardware is involved in their data collection process.

Led by the Intelligent Robot Learning Laboratory (IRL Lab), the unit focuses on fundamental reinforcement learning research and its practical applications. The robotics unit's interdisciplinary approach, combining AI, machine learning, and robotics, is driving innovation in fields ranging from industrial automation to healthcare and beyond.

nanoFAB 2.0: Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing

The nanoFAB is an open-access micro- and nanoscale fabrication and characterization facility empowering researchers and companies to create new technologies through building and seeing at the smallest scale. We provide training, service and collaboration across lithography, deposition, etching, microscopy, spectroscopy and materials analysis, supporting up to 6’’ wafer processing. The nanoFAB 2.0 concept is our vision, to enable automated and high throughput 8" wafer processing supporting industry scale up and manufacturing. We take a multi-sector focus spanning niche product manufacturing in MEMS, quantum, photonics, sensors, med-tech, compound semiconductors, and leading-edge silicon.
